It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas and over here at WAHI we are getting geared up for another spectacular holiday season. Trust us, it's snow joke.
Every year the island puts on an annual festival jam-packed with family fun. Running from the middle of December to the middle of January, the festival lines up with the school holidays making it the perfect time to bring the whole family to Hamilton Island (and of course, #StayWAHI).
The Hamilton Island Summer Festival has lots in store this year. There will be live entertainment, with resident musicians playing throughout many of the bars, restaurants and poolside spots around the island.
Christmas Eve
One of the highlights of the festival season is sure to be the island’s Christmas Eve Carols by Candlelight. Settle in on the Frangipani Lawns from 5:30 pm and listen to some iconic Christmas carols under the starry Whitsunday skies. A sausage sizzle and refreshments will be available, making for the perfect Aussie Christmas Eve.
Christmas Day
Of course, it wouldn’t be Christmas without an appearance from Santa Claus himself. A little birdie told us that he has decided to spend the big day soaking up some sunshine with us. Santa will be swinging by the island’s Carols by Candlelight as well as making the rounds to different parts of the island throughout Christmas Day.
He’s a very busy man but here’s a sneak peek into his diary for the day.
- 7.30 am - 8.00 am: Santa and Elves will visit Sails, Main Pool and Resort Centre
- 9.30 am - 11.00 am: Santa and Elves will be at One Tree Hill for a sleigh photo opportunity
- 10.00 am - 2.00 pm: Santa will be based at the Reef View Hotel for a photo opportunity
- 12.00 pm - 1.30 pm: Santa will be at the Resort Centre and Sails/Main Pool
But wait… there’s myrrh!
Of course, all this Christmas fun will be sure to leave you pretty hungry. Luckily we have you sorted for one of the best parts of the day—Christmas lunch.
If you would like it to feel a little bit more like home, why not cook up your own Christmas lunch in your fully equipped kitchen? You’ll find everything you need for a proper festive spread at the local IGA.
Or if you would rather kick your feet up, why not make a reservation at one of the islands many restaurants for a Christmas themed lunch or dinner? Make sure to book in advance as yule be sorry to miss out.
Bommie Restaurant, Mariners, Pool Terrace, Romanos and Sails will all be putting on a festive menu. Coca Chu, Manta Ray and Marina Tavern will be operating as usual. Pool Terrace will also be putting on an à la carte Christmas Dinner.
