The Whitsundays is a place that glistens with beauty all day long. But there is something extra special about the island first thing in the morning and when early evening turns into night. Even after years on the island, the WAHI team loves every sunrise and sunset more than the last.
We’ve put together a list of the best viewing spots all over the island so you can score a front-row seat to the best show in town.

Passage Peak
Passage Peak is one of the most popular places to watch a sunrise on the island – and for good reason too! With stunning 360-degree views across the Whitsunday Islands and the Coral Sea, it’s 100% worth the hike up to the peak of the island. The trail starts at the southern end of Catseye Beach and takes around an hour to reach the top. However, If you’re heading up in the early morning, you may want to give yourself some extra time to navigate in the dark.

Your WAHI Balcony
If early morning exercise isn't your cup of tea while you're away on holiday, there’s no need to look further than your very own WAHI balcony. The views from a WAHI apartment are one of a kind, and even more spectacular first thing in the morning. It’s also the perfect time to make yourself a morning tea or coffee, some breakfast and take a moment to really soak up and appreciate the view.

One Tree Hill
One Tree Hill is undeniably one of the most popular spots on the island to marvel at the dramatic orange and yellow hues in the evening sky. Located in the centre of the island, it's just a short buggy drive (or bus ride) from WAHI and an incredible place to watch the sunset. The renowned hilltop lookout is also home to one of our favourite cocktail bars, giving you the perfect place to share some wine and cheese as the sun sets over the Whitsunday Islands.

Bommie Deck
Soaking up sunshine and enjoying your time away is hard work—so much so that we think afterwards, you deserve a drink with a view! Bommie Deck is known across the island for serving cocktails as memorable as the sunsets. From the comfort of the deck, you can sit back, order a drink and watch the sun dissolve into the horizon. Why not make a toast to your incredible trip while you’re at it?

Above the Marina
The sunset view above the marina might just be the island’s best-kept secret. After an afternoon spent on the beach, we suggest venturing up the hill to see this magical view in all its glory. The striking silhouette of the yacht club (which has a design inspired by local marine life), along with the abundance of greenery and rugged cliffs in the distance give it a postcard-perfect ambience. Plus the cool breeze coming off the water is a lovely added touch! Be sure to pack your camera, because this is one view you’ll want to share with all your family and friends back at home.

Sunset Sail
While the views are nothing short of spectacular from land, there’s something extra special about soaking up a Whitsundays sunset from the water. Hop aboard a sunset sail and prepare for an experience you’ll never forget. From the comfort of your seriously luxe catamaran, you’ll have the opportunity to relax as the sun drifts below the glistening horizon. When you add in a glass of your favourite beverage and some light nibbles, you can understand why this is a must-do activity for anyone visiting the island.
If there’s one thing we know for sure, it’s that the island’s sunrises and sunsets simply never get old! The best time to catch the beauty in all its glory depends on what time of year you’re visiting, but you can keep up to date with the latest times here. The WAHI team has plenty more tips and tricks to share too! Simply reach out to our team to secure your booking and discover how you can make the most of your time away.
