One of the most enjoyable parts about being on holidays is the chance to experience some spectacular food. Regardless of whether you’re a seasoned foodie or not, there’s nothing quite like sharing an amazing meal and a drink or two with your loved ones. Add the stunning backdrop of Hamilton Island to the mix and it really doesn’t get much better than that.
The good news is that Hamilton Island has seemingly endless options for food. From laidback, chilled-out restaurants and takeaway options to award-winning restaurants, you honestly can’t go wrong. Sounds like our kind of paradise!
The biggest problem you’ll face during your stay is picking which delicious place to try next.
If you’re anything like us and you like to look through a menu ahead of time to decide where you want to eat, we have put together some of our favourite options below.
Coca Chu
Coca Chu always comes highly recommended by anyone who eats here. Situated on the water at Catseye Beach, you’ll find some mouth-watering South-East Asian inspired Cuisine. With a sharing-style menu, it’s the perfect spot to hit with a group and try a bit of everything.
Bommie Restaurant
If you’re celebrating a special occasion, or just want to treat yourself, why not head to Bommie Restaurant? Having won the ‘Best Tourism Restaurant in Queensland” from the Savour Australia Restaurant and Catering Awards, it’s definitely world-class dining. The name Bommie is from the Aboriginal word ‘bombora’ which describes the shallow and colourful reef patches that surround the island. The minimalist modern Australian menu uses fresh local produce and the deck is the perfect spot for an afternoon bevvy and some tapas to share whilst watching the sun go down.
Mariners
If the name didn’t give you any hints, Mariners specialises in Seafood. Found in the heart of town, overlooking the marina, you’ll find fresh fish, local prawns and oysters among other things. We recommend trying the popular seafood platter or a five-course tasting menu. It’ll be sure to win over any seafood lover.
Romano’s
Italian food is one of the most popular cuisines in the world. It just wouldn’t be any sort of foodie’s paradise if there wasn’t an amazing Italian option. Located on the waterfront, Romano’s boasts a modern menu that will be sure to answer all of your pasta and pizza cravings.
Manta Ray Cafe
For something a bit more casual, head to the local favourite, Manta Ray Cafe. Overlooking the water at the marina, it’s a bit more low-key and family-friendly. The food is still top-notch, and the menu has a bit of everything. The wood-fired oven pizzas are a great option, and if you would rather take something to go, they do offer takeaway.
Popeye’s Fish ‘n’ Chips
If you get a craving for some classic fish and chips, the go-to spot on the island is Popeye’s Fish ‘n’ Chips. Why not set up a picnic on Catseye beach underneath the palm trees?
Feel like something home-cooked?
If you do get a specific home-cooked craving or would like to spend your holiday whipping up new dishes you haven’t gotten a chance to try, don’t forget that at WAHI you have a fully-equipped kitchen and a local IGA at your fingertips!
