Audi Hamilton Island Race Week is more than a yacht race. It’s when Hamilton Island comes to life in a vibrant celebration of everything the island has to offer.
In its 30th year, Race Week is the largest offshore yachting regatta in the southern hemisphere.
About 200 yachts enter the regatta across two divisions, racing and cruising. The serious racers enter the racing division, and those looking for a more relaxed race experience enter the cruising division, armed with refreshments.
Those in the yachting loop are excitedly anticipating the newly renovated Wild Oats XI return to the water, on the back of its recent win in the Sydney to Gold Coast race. The 30 metre maxi yacht is the most successful ocean racing yacht in the world and holds the record for the prestigious Sydney to Hobart race.
If you prefer to admire the view from land there is plenty of entertainment to keep you occupied.
With aerobatic displays, fireworks, Tug O’ War and food stalls, a carnival atmosphere takes over Hamilton Island.
Grab bite to eat at the marina. The Eat Street food market has a variety of food stalls to satisfy your appetite.
For the kids, the free Kids Zone has a jumping castle, games and face painting each afternoon, or pop over to Wild Life Hamilton Island to cuddle a koala.
Start the morning with beachside yoga at the Outrigger Marquee or enjoy a morning stroll to the marina and watch the yachts prepare for the day’s racing.
Tune in to Club Marine Radio to stay up to date with race information, interviews and event news.
