Everyone enjoys an escape to the warmer parts of our country and our friends from deep blue seas are no exception.

Whales have arrived in the waters around Hamilton Island and the Whitsundays as they migrate from Antarctica to tropical North Queensland for their annual holiday. Humpback and Minke whales are often sighted by whale watchers and lucky passersby from June to early November as they migrate to the warm, protected Whitsunday waters, ideal conditions for a whale nursery.

Whale watching truly engages all of the senses. Watch as they launch themselves into the air and do giant whale belly flops (also known as breaching). Listen to the powerful sounds of their fins slapping the water, and see and feel the incredible spray and water flume as these magnificent creatures frolic in their ocean playground.

You might even catch a glimpse of a whale or two from your balcony at WAHI.
