Hamilton Island’s picturesque beaches and vibrant marina precinct makes it the ideal place for participants and families. The island comes to life. And what better way to celebrate an athletic effort than by sipping on a cocktail or lazing around the pool or beach?

Hamilton Island Race Week

Audi Hamilton Island Race Week is Australia’s largest offshore regatta and attracts participants and spectators from all over the world. Race Week is by far the biggest event of the year for Hamilton Island and isn’t just for the boaties; The entire island comes to life with entertainment on and off land.

Great Whitehaven Beach Run

Running on sand is a challenge but it’s worth the reward at the Great Whitehaven Beach Run. Whitehaven Beach is a 7km stretch of pristine white sand. The event includes options for all fitness levels, from the 1.5km or 500m fun run for the kids to the 5.5km, 10.5km or half marathon challenges.

Hamilton Island Triathlon

In November, the Fujifilm Hamilton Island Triathlon challenges people of all ages to swim, cycle and run their way around Hamilton Island. If all three disciplines are a little intimidating for you, the event also includes The Dent Dash on Dent Island and the Whitehaven Beach Ocean Swim on the beautiful Whitehaven Beach. 

Clash of the Paddles

The Gatorade Clash of the Paddles is an outrigger canoe event. One of the toughest of its kind, the event is run over four days. In addition to the outrigger canoe events, Clash of the Paddles also includes surf and ocean ski races. Experienced and novice outrigger canoe participants are all welcome and there is an extensive entertainment program on land for everyone to enjoy.

Hilly Half Marathon

Every May, Hamilton Island’s hilly terrain transforms into a running track for the annual Stamford Financial Hilly Half Marathon. For 21km, runners make their way down walking tracks, fire trails and roads on Hamilton Island. It is a challenging course with an unrivalled view. You can also complete the event as a team of three, with each competitor covering 7km of the course.
