Whale Watching Season
June - September
Between June and September, Humpback Whales travel through the Whitsundays Passage during their yearly migration. If you’re on Hamilton Island during migration time, you might see a whale from your balcony, at Passage Peak, or at One Tree Hill. It is a truly magnificent sight.
Audi Hamilton Island Race Week
20th to 27th of August
Hamilton Island Race Week is the time of year when celebrities, yacht owners and yacht appreciators flock to the island for a week of races and celebrations. On the water and on the land, events run throughout the week and range from beach yoga to live music and entertainment.
The Fujifilm Triathlon and Whitehaven Beach Ocean Swim
12 - 13 November 2016
If active holidays are your style, you can’t go past the Triathlon and Ocean Swim weekend. On the Saturday, you can participate in the triathlon on Hamilton Island or the Dent Dash on Dent Island. There’s also a junior triathlon for the kids.
On the Sunday, swimmers head to Whitehaven Beach for a 2km or 750m ocean swim in the beautiful clear Whitehaven Beach waters. The kids can also participate in this one, as there’s a 350m swim for juniors.
