At WILDLife Hamilton Island you can enjoy breakfast with the cuddliest company you’ve ever had the pleasure of dining with!

Feast on a buffet breakfast while koalas graze on leaves and take a morning snooze in trees right next to your table.

The buffet offers a wide selection of breakfast foods, from eggs cooked to your specification to muesli and cereals with flaxseed and chia seeds.

WAHI guests receive a discounted rate of $28 for a full buffet breakfast! Kids 12 and under eat free. (One free child per paying adult - prices correct at the time of writing.)

After breakfast you can also elect to cuddle a koala and receive a professional photo of you and your new furry friend.

You can also have a cuddle with a snake, if you’re so inclined.

Myth or fact?

There are a lot of rumours out there about our furry friends. We did some research to put the rumours to rest.

  • Koalas sleep so much because they’re drunk

MYTH: Koalas don’t sleep a lot because they’re drunk on gumleaves. Digesting their leaves takes a lot of energy, so they need the extra zzzs.

  • Koalas are bears

MYTH: Koalas are marsupials, not bears.

  • Koalas smell like eucalyptus

FACT: Koalas have a pleasant eucalyptus scent, similar to the cough drops or oil you might have at home. Generally, males have a stronger scent than females.

  • Koalas don’t drink water

MYTH: It’s true that Koalas don’t drink a lot of water (they get most of their moisture from eucalyptus leaves). However, if it’s particularly hot they’ll seek out water to drink.
