Hamilton Island is well known for its sandy beaches, gorgeous reefs and relaxed atmosphere. But you may be surprised to learn there are plenty of activities for those who prefer to live life on the edge rather than the shore.

Tube riding

Imagine speeding across the clear ocean, feeling the salt water hit your skin and the air whip past your face as you are being towed by a high powered speedboat.

Exhilarating and scenic, tube riding takes sightseeing to a new level.

Water skiing or wake boarding

For more of a challenge, try water skiing or wakeboarding.

The water around Hamilton Island is warm and the conditions are typically calm, so it is the perfect place for beginners to learn.

Alternatively, you can design your own adventure and embark on a private ski boat journey around the islands.

Water activities run from 9am to 5pm daily.

Jet skiing

Explore Hamilton Island and its surrounding waters from a jet ski.

You’ll get a full safety briefing before you embark on the tour.

Jet Ski Tours depart the Hamilton Island Marina daily.

Scuba diving

Get up close and personal with the creatures of the deep at the Great Barrier Reef, a short trip from WAHI.

Whitsunday Islands Dive and Snorkel offers half day dive and snorkel experiences to some of the Whitsunday Islands’ best dive sites.

Parasailing

The view from above is a surreal experience, especially when you’re floating above the water, suspended from a parasail.

You will launch from a speed boat and land on a speed boat, so you don’t even have to get wet if you don’t want to!

Tip: Don’t forget your camera. The view is breathtaking.

Skydiving

If you’re looking for something with a little more thrill, you can take the ferry back to the mainland and go skydiving at Airlie Beach.

It’s one of the most beautiful places to go skydiving. Free falling at 220 kilometres per hour, you’ll catch views of kilometres of sandy beaches, countless islands and azure blue and green water as far as you can see.

This is an experience for the true adrenaline junkies!

Quad Bikes

If you prefer to feel your adrenaline flow on land, Hamilton Island Quad Bike Tours are tours with an exciting twist

Visit hidden vistas you can usually only access by foot and explore Hamilton Island’s trails and lookouts from an ATV.
